In a City That Kills by Constriction Throw Your Streets Around Me and Squeeze

The weekend in pictures, not in any particular order. It was Lunar New Year this weekend. The streets were less crowded and shops were closed. Bizarre for a city of this size. But Koreans are pretty serious about this holiday. Except the ones who went to Wolmido in Incheon instead of to their ancestral homelands. "For shame! You should be at Grandma's house eating homemade french fry covered corn dogs... hmmm."
This horse could use a holiday too. I have a special soft spot for beasts of burdens, being one my self from time to time. The saddest thing about this gig is the easier it is for the horse in the short run the worse in the long run.
The cars here are smaller than I had thought. And I don't think they are going to make the safety standards needed for import to the States. "You will have to lower something else and put neon on it."
I'm not saying the town was empty, but we had an entire subway car to ourselves. For a few stops at least. For the first time I contemplated stretching out and going to sleep on the subway.
I was trying to take pictures of Incheon's famous China Town and made a car commercial instead. Such is life. "Hyundai: We are FAR better than we used to be. Promise."
Popular sport of the bored world wide: Step Sittin'. Notice the large amount of red in China Town. It is seriously how you can tell when you have entered and exited the district.
Normally on this holiday you will visit family all day bringing traditional gifts of toilet paper and citrus dressed in your Sunday best. This family decided to take a break for Chinese food. I support their decision. It was delicious. If you are going to eat Chinese food in Korean this is the place to do it.
Standing at the crossroads in China Town.
An assortment of a cellphone bling. Something no one should live with out if they live within Korea. Not sure was kind of signals you are sending sporting a skull and cross bones with a heart eye patch. But if you just HAVE to be "different like everyone else..."
I believe the man's order is apparent but where we will find a doobee fit for a king I have no idea.
A hazy sunset in one of Seoul's many palaces. A place to sit and rest your feet and drink your "Qoo." "It's not even phonetically correct!"
Group picture! Friends from class at the palace. Together we represent 3/7 of the G7 nations. "This is a profoundly unjust system, where official creditors exercise the upper hand at all stages of the international Žfinancial game. The IMF and World Bank, always anxious to impose market forces on the poorest countries..." "Does this mean you're not paying for dinner?"
It keep ships from beaching themselves 3 kilometers inland from the harbor AND holds up a paper lantern. Efficient yet elegant.
Peace! We later poured out a 40oz. of Tsingtao for all of our homies.

A traditional Korean game being played, with more skill than I could muster, at the Namsan Traditional Korean House Village. Similar to most games on the planet, if it goes in it's good.
Traditional Korean kites on a traditional Korean wall in a traditional Korean house. "BEHOLD!"
"You know, for kids!"
"I'm a mushroom, I'm a mushroom, I'm a mushroom..." "IMPOSTOR! SLAY HIM!"
"I may have the mind and body of a weak and feeble woman but I have the heart and stomach of a concrete elephant." And this is where we leave you this week. By the Cheongye stream, downtown Seoul. Nearly deserted compared to normal standards. The people were trickling back in today though. I'm sure everything will be back to normal tomorrow.

    As with most fun activities...

Aaaah. It's funny for so many reasons. I love this post. Looks like a good time to walk around! We drove through the 'international' district on 38th (I'm not even sure it's designated as such per say, but it's there - no doubt)yesterday and the streets were red with fire-cracker litter.

    Cheers!
